Instructor Training

The instructor curriculum and hours of instruction shall consist of 400 hours or equivalent credit hours and shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
  • TEACHING TECHNIQUES & METHODS OF INSTRUCTION

  • TEACHING AIDES
  • DEVELOPING, ADMINISTERING AND GRADING EXAMINATIONS
  • SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
  • RECORD KEEPING
  • LAWS AND REGULATIONS
  • PRESENTATION OF THEORETICAL SUBJECTS
  • PRESENTATION OF PRACTICAL SUBJECTS
  • SUPERVISION OF CLINIC FLOOR
  • PRACTICUM TEACHING

Orientation

An introduction to DSI policies and expectations with an overview of course requirements.

Curriculum

An introductory course covering the requirements that must be fulfilled in preparing a course of study to obtain a license in beauty therapy.

Course Outline and Development

This course will prepare instructors to create their own method for covering all necessary topics.

Lesson Planning

Trainees will learn to divide coursework into lecture and assignments.

Classroom Management

An introduction to the rules and regulations of a successful learning environment.

Teaching Techniques & Methods of Instruction

Trainees will learn to create their own unique methods of reaching students.

Learning Styles

Introduction to the various ways information can be absorbed.

Learning Disabilities

Overview of challenges any student may face in the classroom setting.

Teaching Aides

Overview of textbooks and practical instruments to aid in lessons.

Developing, Administering and Grading Examinations

Trainees will create and score tests based on a collection of prepared lessons.

School Administration

An introduction to the operations management of an aesthetics program.

Record Keeping

Trainees will learn to manage grade books.

Laws and Regulations

An introduction to instruction laws and educational policies.

Presentation of Theoretical Subjects

An advanced course covering teaching methods for subjects without practical demonstration.

Presentation of Practical Subjects

An advanced course covering teaching methods for subjects with required demonstration.

Supervision of Clinic Floor

Trainees will monitor the progress of students currently enrolled at DSI during practical exercises.

Practicum Teaching

Each instructor trainee will be required to participate in student teaching.
