DSI Aesthetics offers several programs aimed at preparing students for the state board exam. Each program is specifically tailored to the certification requirements.
DSI offers three programs of study directed toward fulfilling Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland state requirements, respectively:
- 600 Hour Aesthetics Certification Course
- 600 Hour Master Aesthetics Certification Training Course
- 400 Hour Master Instructor Certification Training Course
State Board Laws for Aesthetics
Working legally as an aesthetician (esthetician) in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. requires holding a standard license. Furthermore, Virginia and Washington, D.C. aestheticians are also now required to hold a master license in order to perform more advanced skin care treatments.
Licensing Aspiring aestheticians must complete coursework and pass a state exam to acquire either a master or standard aesthetician license. Applicants for an instructor license must possess an Esthetician license.
Coursework: A standard aesthetician license and master license each requires at least 600 hours of instruction. Please see each program page for a complete list of required courses.
Exam: The State Board administers a theory and practical exam for both types of licenses.
